Tonight is the night that I begin the quest of the month to come, though if you've been reading since the beginning you'd know that today is actually the day after what should have been the first entry. Whoops.
So I thought today would be a good day to double up and write two. The first is going to be about CHRISTMAS. My Faaaavorite time of year!!
This year, for me and my boyfriend, is going to be a little different than the past six years. I usually have and decorate my own tree, but we always stay with his parents the night of. This year my tree went up on November 12th. I waited until Remembrance Day was over, out of respect, and onward went the decorating for 2011.
There she is -- my charlie brown christmas tree. Anyone who knows my family knows that charlie brown trees run in the family. This is a tree that I decided, last year, to start decorating every year for my grandmothers. As a child and teenager, both of my grandmothers would ask me faithfully around the first of December to go to their houses and decorate their trees. It was always such a fantastic time for me because not only did I get to spend time with both of my grandmothers and learn about their specific tastes in decoration, but it became a yearly tradition for me and it's something that I will never forget. Ironically, not all of my family is overly interested in the holiday. My grandfather doesn't even put up a tree, despite fruitless attempts made by my to try and change his mind... EVERY year.
So, as I mentioned in the beginning, this year is going to be Very different for Josh and I. We are soon embarking on a cross-country move that will take us away from our family and friends RIGHT before the holidays. If this weren't already hard enough, Josh's best friend of ten years is about ready to calf. Neither of us have any idea how this whole adventure is going to pan out, but hopefully it is for the best.
Before I go, I would like to ask you all a question, to which I would like you to reply to my email, ken.hunter86@me.com. What are your FAVORITE CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS? I have sooo many that I love and will share them all with you next Saturday!! So not only will I be writing a daily blog for my month challenge, but I will write a short blog each day until the end of this challenge to answer the question from the same day, week prior. Include pictures if you like!
Here is a picture that I took on christmas morning last year, right after he woke me up in the morning! My little nephew, Kemper! :)

I know you wanted people to email their favorite Christmas traditions but I am just going to comment :)
ReplyDelete1) Every year I still try and buy an Advent Calendar which seems silly because I am 25, but I look forward to that daily chocolate as I count down to Christmas
2) Christmas dinner is one of my favourite things about Christmas! I like looking forward to sitting down with the family for a nice hot meal with delicous fixings and dessert to follow.
3) I watch a lot of Christmas cartoons over the holidays and one my favourites "National Lampoon's: Christmas Vacation" is watched every year!
4) I try and squeeze in a few days where I listen to Christmas music.
5) Every year when I am shopping I try and donate at least $5.00 dollars to the Salvation Army donation spot in the mall. It makes me feel good to donate something even if small.
um, that is all I can think of, I don't know if these are classified as traditions but I do them yearly :)
